Visiting D.C.?
Out-of-state medical card in DC? You do not need one.
Visitors 21 and over register with the District online in about two minutes. No doctor, no paperwork from home. Then you shop like anyone else, in person or by same-day delivery to a D.C. address.
How the out-of-state medical card question really works in DC
People arrive with a Maryland card, a Pennsylvania card, a Florida card, and ask if it counts. Here's the honest answer: it neither helps nor hurts. D.C. runs its own registration, it is open to non-residents, and it is a self-certification. You confirm you are 21 or over and that you are using cannabis for your own health, and that is the requirement. Your home-state card can stay in your wallet.
- 01Register onlineThe ABCA portal, two minutes on a phone. Residents and visitors use the same form. We help at the counter if you would rather.
- 02Bring a photo IDAny government ID with your date of birth. It is checked at the counter and at the door for delivery.
- 03Shop or orderIn person at 4630 14th St NW in Petworth, or same-day delivery to any address inside the District.
- 04Keep it in D.C.Products are for use inside the District. Crossing a state line with cannabis is a federal offense, so finish it here.
Maryland and Virginia neighbors
Same rules. Register online, bring your ID, and shop at the counter. We cannot deliver across the District line, so Silver Spring, Bethesda, Arlington and Alexandria are pickup trips. Most are 15 to 25 minutes by car, and there is street parking on 14th and the side streets. Our areas served page has drive times from each town.
Staying in a hotel
Type the hotel address into the live menu. If it is inside D.C., you will see the delivery window and the minimum right there. The driver checks your ID and registration at the door, same as a home delivery. Not sure about a specific hotel? Call (202) 506-5449 and we will look before you order.

We wrote out exactly what happens, from the door to the bag, so nothing surprises you. What to bring and what to expect.
Out-of-state medical card DC questions
Does DC accept out-of-state medical cards?
You do not need one. D.C. lets visitors 21 and over self-certify online through the ABCA portal, the same way residents do. An out-of-state card on its own is not what gets you in; the two-minute D.C. registration plus a photo ID is.
I am visiting DC from Maryland or Virginia. Can I buy?
Yes. Register online, bring your ID, and shop in person at 4630 14th St NW. Delivery stops at the D.C. line, so Maryland and Virginia addresses are pickup only, and products are for use inside the District.
How long does the DC visitor registration take?
About two minutes on a phone. Name, date of birth, address, a confirmation, and you are registered. Staff do it with people at the counter all day.
Can I get delivery to my hotel in DC?
Enter the hotel address on the live menu; if it is inside D.C. the menu confirms delivery and the minimum for that address. The driver checks your ID and registration at the door. Ask us by phone if you want to double-check a specific hotel first.
Is my registration good for future trips?
Yes, for as long as the self-certification runs. Renewing it later is the same two-minute form. Bring the same ID.
