Questions, answered.
This is the Green Legacy FAQ: the things people ask at the counter, by phone and in the delivery notes, answered plainly. Registration, ID, delivery, what is on the shelf, how to pay and what the law expects once you leave. If yours is not here, call (202) 506-5449 and ask a person.
Green Legacy FAQ: registration and who can buy
The questions every first-timer asks before they get to the counter.
Do I need a medical card to shop at Green Legacy?
Yes. Green Legacy is a licensed medical cannabis dispensary, so every customer needs a valid D.C. medical cannabis registration. The good news is that D.C. lets adults 21 and over self-certify: no doctor visit, no referral, and no fee.
How do I register, and how long does it take?
On the ABCA patient portal, in about two minutes. You enter your details, upload your ID and self-certify. Most people are approved fast enough to shop the same day. If you get stuck, walk in and we will finish it with you at the counter.
I live in Maryland or Virginia. Can I still buy?
Yes. The D.C. self-certification is open to non-residents 21 and over, and the District also accepts valid medical cards issued by other states. Bring your ID and whichever registration you hold. What we cannot do is deliver outside the District; order ahead and collect from the shop.
What ID do you accept?
A current government-issued photo ID that shows your date of birth: a driver license, state ID card, passport or military ID. We check it on every visit and on every delivery, along with your registration.
Is there a minimum age?
21, with no exceptions, and the ID has to prove it. That applies to walk-ins, pickup and delivery alike.
Green Legacy FAQ: your first visit
What happens when you walk in the door at 4630 14th Street NW.
What should I expect the first time?
An ID and registration check at the door, then a conversation. Tell whoever greets you that it is your first time and they will walk the shelves with you. Nobody works on commission, and you can leave without buying anything.
What are your hours?
Open daily 11 AM–8 PM, including Sunday. Weekday afternoons before three are the quietest if you want unhurried time with someone.
Where do I park?
Curbside on 14th Street NW, which is free, or on the residential streets one block either side. There is no lot. The nearest Metro stations are Georgia Ave-Petworth and Columbia Heights, both a short bus or walk away.
How do I pay?
Cash is always accepted and there is an ATM on site. Cashless options change as the banking rules do, so ask when you order or call ahead if you want to pay by card.
Can I bring a friend who is not registered?
They can come in with you, but they cannot buy, handle or be given any product. The purchase has to be by the registered patient, for the registered patient.
Green Legacy FAQ: delivery and pickup
Same-day delivery covers the whole District. Here is how it works.
Do you deliver?
Yes, same day, anywhere inside Washington, D.C. Enter your ZIP on the live menu and it will confirm coverage, the window and the current minimum for your address. The driver checks your ID and registration at the door.
Do you deliver to Maryland or Virginia?
No. Our license stops at the District line, so we cannot bring an order to Silver Spring, Bethesda, Arlington or anywhere else outside D.C. Order ahead for pickup instead; it is bagged and waiting when you arrive.
How fast is delivery?
Most orders placed before mid-afternoon arrive the same day, often within a couple of hours. Evenings and weekends run longer. We text you a window when the order is confirmed.
Is there a delivery minimum or fee?
It varies by address and by the day, which is why the menu shows it before you commit rather than after. There are no hidden fees at the door.
Can I order ahead for pickup?
Yes. Order on the live menu, choose pickup, and come in any time we are open. It saves the wait at the counter and guarantees the item is held for you.
Green Legacy FAQ: products, strains and lab results
What is on the shelf and how to make sense of it.
What do you sell?
Flower, pre-rolls, vape cartridges and disposables, edibles, concentrates, tinctures, topicals and accessories. Everything is lab-tested and D.C. compliant. Stock turns over daily, so the live menu is the only accurate list.
Which strains do you carry?
97 strains as of the last menu refresh, from growers like AltSol, Grown N DC, Molecular Farms, District Cannabis. Every one has its own page with the current THC, terpene panel and effect scores.
I do not know strain names. How do I choose?
Start from how you want to feel instead. Our shop-by-feel page splits the menu into eight lanes: happy, relaxed, sleepy, focused, balanced, creative, active and comfort. Or just describe your evening to whoever is at the counter.
Are the THC numbers on the site real?
They are the certificate-of-analysis results for the batch on the shelf when the page was built, pulled straight from the menu listing. Flower sits in the teens and twenties; carts and concentrates sit in the sixties to eighties because they are extracts. The two are not comparable.
Can I see lab results?
Yes. Every product on the menu carries its batch lab result, and the strain pages show the terpene breakdown. Ask in store and we will pull the certificate of analysis for any jar.
What is the difference between indica, sativa and hybrid?
Less than people think. The labels describe plant heritage, not a guaranteed effect. Terpenes and dose predict how something feels far better, which is what our guides and the strain pages focus on.
How much should I take the first time?
With flower or a vape, one small pull and wait ten minutes. With edibles, the lowest dose on the package and wait two hours before even thinking about more. You can always take more; you cannot take less.
Green Legacy FAQ: deals, rewards and pricing
How to pay less without hunting.
Do you run deals?
Every week. Live specials are on the menu’s specials page, and the deals page explains the recurring ones. Prices on the menu already include any active discount.
Is there a rewards program?
Yes. You earn points on every purchase and redeem them at the counter or online. Ask to be enrolled on your first visit; it takes a phone number.
Do prices include tax?
The menu shows the shelf price; D.C. sales tax is added at checkout, the same as any retail purchase in the District.
Can I return something?
Cannabis is a regulated product, so all sales are final. If a sealed product has a manufacturing defect, contact us within 48 hours with your receipt and we will sort out an exchange in line with D.C. rules.
Green Legacy FAQ: legal and safety
The rules that apply once you have bought something.
Can I smoke in or near the shop?
No. Consumption on the premises, on the sidewalk outside or in a vehicle is against D.C. law. Take it home.
Can I take products out of D.C.?
No. Carrying cannabis across state lines is a federal offense even between two places where it is legal. Products are for use inside the District.
Can I drive after using cannabis?
No. Cannabis impairs coordination and judgement, and driving under the influence is illegal in D.C. Plan a ride the same way you would after drinking.
Is my information private?
We collect what the law requires (ID, registration, order records) and what it takes to get an order to you. We do not sell or share it for marketing. The full detail is in the privacy policy.
How do I reach a person?
Call (202) 506-5449 during opening hours; whoever answers is standing in the shop. Or email hello@shopgreenlegacydc.com. Stock questions are best by phone, because the answer changes by the hour.
Still stuck?
Two things the Green Legacy FAQ cannot do: tell you what is in stock right now, and tell you what will suit you. The first is on the live menu, which updates as the shelf changes. The second is a conversation. Call the shop, describe your evening, and someone who has tried the jar will narrow it to two or three options.
A few strains people ask about by name this week: 91 Octane, Acapulco Gold, Amnesia, Apple Crisp, Banana Acai Mints, Banana Breath. The full list, with lab sheets, is on the strain menu. If the Green Legacy FAQ missed something obvious, tell us and it goes in.
