How Acapulco Gold lands
The Acapulco Gold strain is a energetic strain first and a happy one second, going by the effect scores (9 and 9 out of ten). There's some creative in there too.
Effect scores are the menu's customer-reported ratings, not medical claims. Effects vary by person, dose and product.
On our shop-by-feel page that puts Acapulco Gold in the Active, Happy and Creative lanes. If you'd rather start from a feeling than a name, that page is the shortcut.
Where Acapulco Gold comes from
Acapulco Gold is one of the old landrace sativas, named for the Mexican coast it came from. It was famous before most modern strains existed, and the golden color of the cured flower is where the name comes from.
AltSol (Alternative Solutions) grows in the District and supplies most of our flower and the Good Night / Great Day pre-roll packs. Consistent jars, honest lab sheets, and a house style that leans gassy. More on the grower at altsol.co.
When to use it
Best early. It leans energetic, and a lot of regulars use it the way other people use a second coffee.
Lab sheet
What's on the lab sheet
Terpenes explain more than the THC number does. In the Acapulco Gold strain it's limonene-forward (1.33%) with 3.47% in total, which is why the nose is citrus and lemon.
- Limonene 1.33% Smells like: citrus, lemon, herbal Same terpene as lemon rind. When it sits near the top of the sheet the aroma is sharp and clean rather than sweet.
- Beta Caryophyllene 0.90% Smells like: sharp, spice, sweet, wood Beta-caryophyllene is the peppery one. It is also found in black pepper and cloves, and it gives a lot of gas strains their bite.
- Nerolidol 0.59% Smells like: floral, sweet, woody Nerolidol is a quieter terpene with a woody, slightly floral smell. It turns up in tea tree, jasmine and ginger.
- Alpha Pinene 0.24% Smells like: pine Alpha and beta pinene both show up on the sheet. Together they are the fresh, resinous smell at the front of a lot of sativas.
- Humulene 0.24% Smells like: herbal, spice, woody, earthy If a strain smells a bit like a pine forest floor, humulene is doing some of that work.
Terpene percentages are from the current batch's certificate of analysis. Our guides explain how to read one and why the total matters more than the THC.
