DC cannabis registration takes about two minutes. Legal cannabis in Washington D.C. is sold through licensed medical dispensaries; “medical” sounds complicated, but it is really just a quick self-certification — no doctor, no referral, no letter.

What the self-certification involves
D.C. moved to self-certification, which removed the single biggest barrier people used to hit. You are not asking a physician to vouch for a condition. You are confirming, yourself, that you use cannabis for medical purposes. That is the whole test.
You will need a government photo ID and, if your ID is not a D.C. license, proof of where you live. Have a passport-style photo handy — a clear phone photo against a plain wall is fine. Then complete the form on the ABCA patient portal . Most people finish in a couple of minutes.
If you get stuck, come in
A surprising number of people start the form, hit a question they are unsure about, and abandon it. If that is you, bring your ID and phone to the shop and we will finish it with you at the counter. It takes a few minutes and there is no expectation that you buy anything.
Visiting from out of state
D.C. has reciprocity with many other states' medical programs. If you already hold a card elsewhere, bring it along with matching photo ID and we will check whether it is recognized. If it is not, you can self-certify here the same way a resident would — the program is open to non-residents 21 and over.
After you are approved
Your digital card arrives by email. From that point you can shop three ways: walk into the shop on 14th Street NW, order ahead for pickup or same-day delivery, or browse the live menu first and decide later. Bring your ID and registration each visit — we check once and you are in the system.

How long does registration take?
The form itself takes about two minutes. Approval often arrives the same day by email, though it can take longer during busy periods.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. The D.C. self-certification is free. There is no ABCA fee, and we do not charge for helping you finish it in store.
Can I register if I live outside D.C.?
D.C. recognizes medical cannabis registrations from many other states. Bring your out-of-state card and a matching ID and we will check whether it is accepted.
